Novel PET/MRI approach improves detection of endometriosis in difficult-to-assess areas

Researchers have developed a new PET/MRI imaging technique targeting fibroblast activation protein (FAP) to better detect endometriosis. This method shows improved accuracy in identifying lesions in difficult-to-image areas of the pelvis and abdomen.

This advancement could significantly reduce diagnostic delays for endometriosis, which currently average four to twelve years, leading to better patient outcomes.
