A person has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after an incident at a North Shore motel.

Emergency services were called to Olive Tree Motel in Browns Bay at around 5.42pm.

Hato Hone St John said it responded to the scene with one ambulance, one critical care unit and an operations manager.

One person in critical condition was taken to Auckland City Hospital, spokesperson said.

Police said initial indications suggested the incident was family-harm related.

Images from the scene show eight police officers on the sloped driveway leading to the motel, which was completely cordoned off.
