North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson says he won't be pushing for a contract extension in the off-season after another frustrating year for the Kangaroos.

Clarkson has one year left on his five-year contract, and he urged the club to mimic others like Brisbane and Adelaide by "sticking to the path".

The Kangaroos, who are 13th on the ladder, face a challenging run home starting with Western Bulldogs on Thursday night.
