North-East Teachers’ Constituency to go to polls on October 23

The Election Commission of India has announced the biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council from the North-East Teachers’ Constituency, with polling scheduled for October 23 and counting of votes on October 27.

The constituency comprises Kalaburagi, Bidar, Raichur, Ballari, Koppal, Yadgir and Vijayanagara districts. Regional Commissioner of Kalaburagi Division Zaheera Naseem is the Returning Officer and Electoral Registration Officer for the constituency.

According to the election schedule, the notification will be issued on September 29. Candidates can file their nominations from September 29 to October 6, excluding government holidays, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Scrutiny of nominations will be held on October 7, while October 9 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature.
