Nominee to lead Gaelic games integration to be announced in coming days

Leaders of the GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Association are debating the timeline and structural requirements for the integration of their organizations. While there is a shared goal of unity, disagreements persist regarding the pace of change and the necessity of multiple congresses.
Why it matters
The integration of these major sporting bodies represents a significant cultural and structural shift in Irish sports governance.
That’s all from me for now, Gordon Manning will have a report on proceedings later.
Ladies Gaelic Football Association CEO Lyn Savage and Camogie Association president Brian Molloy discuss how, when integration is achieved, it’s important that women’s football and camogie are properly represented and that it has to be seen as a “new GAA”.
GAA president Jarlath Burns says he will not be president for when it will happen but would love for it to be achieved by 2028. He says they need to move from aspiration to action.
He says it would be difficult to achieve the three congresses and have it ratified by 2028 but he thinks it’s better to do it incrementally, unlike Molloy, who believes the focus should be on structures first and then the rest.
