No single-use plastic in this Dasara: MCC

The Mysore City Corporation has issued strict guidelines prohibiting the use of single-use plastic during the upcoming Dasara 2026 festival. Organizers and vendors are required to use eco-friendly alternatives and ensure proper waste segregation to minimize environmental impact.
Why it matters
Large-scale public events are major contributors to plastic pollution, and this policy sets a precedent for sustainable event management in urban India.
In the view of Dasara-2026, Mysore City Corporation has come up with guidelines to organisers of Dasara programmes, tourists, stall keepers, vendors and public against the usage of banned single-use plastic during the event.
Usage of single-use plastic especially in food mela, flower show, exhibition, cultural extravaganza and sports activities is prohibited. Plastic cup, spoon, thermocol must be replaced with reusable and eco-friendly products like plates made out of arecanut leaves, MCC said in a release.
