Residents and pedestrians in Potheri are raising concerns about dangerous traffic conditions on a stretch of GST Road. Motorcyclists are frequently driving in the wrong direction, creating safety hazards for students and other pedestrians due to a lack of proper pavements.

Motorcyclists from Raghavendiran Nagar, Sadasivam Road, and Ninnakarai in Mettukuppam heading to Thiruvalluvar Street, Bharathi Street, Kambar Street, and Pillaiyar Kovil Street, Potheri, have to take a U-turn on GST Road, along Level Crossing 44 Road. But they drive in the wrong direction on GST Road.
S. Varun, a two-wheeler rider, says, “It is better to ride along the median, as the riders jump lanes, posing a risk to the safety of vehicle users driving towards Maraimalai Nagar.
The motorcyclists along the localities drive at a high speed and change direction. The motorcyclists also drive too close to their those on GST Road, forcing them to swerve right and risking collisions.”
