The Purba Medinipur police on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) told the Calcutta High Court that a search of a house in Kolaghat found no incriminating material in a case involving West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Mr. Adhikari, who was the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly at the time, had moved the High Court against the suo motu FIR lodged in connection with the search.
The High Court had stayed the FIR on May 24, 2024.
The officer-in-charge of Kolaghat police station submitted a report before Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, stating that no incriminating material was found during the search and that there appeared to have been a "miscommunication."
The report said a raid and search were conducted at the house during the enforcement of the model code of conduct for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, based on information received from sources.
