No funding for eating disorder team

The HSE Mid West region in Ireland currently lacks funding to establish a dedicated specialist team for treating adults with eating disorders. While children's services have received funding, adults must rely on general community mental health teams for support.
Why it matters
This highlights a critical gap in healthcare infrastructure and resource allocation for mental health services in the region.
THERE is currently no funding to put in place a team to tackle eating disorder among adults in Limerick and Clare.
That was the news given to members of the Regional Health Forum at their recent meeting when Cllr James Ryan (SF) from Clare asked: “Is there a timeline of when treatment for adults with eating disorders will be implemented in the Mid Mest area as promised by Minister Mary Butler?”
Answering the written question, Maria Bridgeman, IHA Manager, HSE Mid West, said that all new specialist mental health service developments are funded and supported through national clinical programmes and are dependent on the allocation of national development funding.
