No fuel surcharge on Kerala electricity bills in August
The Kerala State Electricity Board has announced that there will be no fuel surcharge on electricity bills for the month of August. This decision follows a minor additional liability in June that was offset by previous savings, resulting in a zero-paise adjustment for consumers.

No fuel surcharge will be levied on the electricity bills of monthly and bi-monthly-billed consumers in August.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) was supposed to levy the surcharge in August from individual consumers to make up for the additional liability incurred on power purchases in June this year.
The additional liability in June was ₹1.26 crore only. After the adjustments from the previous month’s savings, the per-consumer fuel surcharge was rounded off to zero paise per unit. Thermal fuel surcharge is collected from consumers to make up for the changes in cost of fuel used in thermal generating stations – the Central Generating Stations and Independent Power Producers approved by the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
