Wong Chen, who had served as the Subang MP since May 2018, announced his resignation yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) has confirmed that no by-election will be held for the Subang parliamentary constituency following the resignation of PKR’s Wong Chen as its MP.

In a statement, EC chairman Ramlan Harun said the commission was notified about the seat’s vacancy by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul yesterday.

“Based on Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution, the Dewan Rakyat speaker has informed the EC that there is no need to fill the casual vacancy.

“Accordingly, no by-election for the P.104 Subang parliamentary constituency will be held,” it said.
