NMC approves 150 MBBS seats at Alva’s Institute of Medical Sciences from this academic year
The National Medical Commission has approved 150 MBBS seats for Alva’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre starting in the 2026-27 academic year. This development is expected to expand medical education opportunities in coastal Karnataka.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has accorded approval to Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, to admit 150 students to the MBBS course at its newly established Alva’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMSRC), Mijar, from the academic year 2026-27.
A release from the foundation here said the NMC approval marks a significant milestone for its ambitious medical education project. It said AIMSRC, located adjacent to National Highway 169 at Mijar in Moodbidri, will function with the aim of integrating medical education, cutting-edge healthcare services and research.
The institution is ready to provide quality medical education with state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, hospital facilities and experienced faculty, the release said.
