NMC allows govt. medical college in Bagalkot to start admissions
The National Medical Commission has granted permission for the Bagalkot Medical College and Research Institute to begin admitting 100 MBBS students for the 2026-27 academic year. This follows a successful appeal process after an initial rejection of the college's application.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted permission to the Bagalkot Medical College and Research Institute to admit 100 students for the first year of MBBS from the academic year 2026-27.
The State government established the institute on the premises of the government hospital in Bagalkot last year.
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the NMC has issued a Letter of Permission (LoP). This follows the decision of the second Appeal Committee regarding the establishment of the new medical college in Navanagar, Sector 11, Bagalkot. Earlier, the NMC had rejected the application filed by the college.
Subsequently, an appeal was filed, and the first Appeal Committee issued its order on July 23, 2026. Following the subsequent proceedings and the decision of the second Appeal Committee, the NMC has now issued the LoP for the college.
