Nine arrested in Guntur assault case
Guntur police have arrested nine individuals involved in an assault case and suspended a local police inspector for procedural failures. Authorities are also pursuing legal action against those circulating sensitive videos of the victim on social media.

Guntur district police on Monday warned of strict legal action against those spreading misinformation and sharing videos that violate the dignity and privacy of a woman reportedly involved in the recent Krishnababu Colony assault incident in Nagarampalem police station limits.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal said police acted promptly after receiving the woman's complaint on July 16. The complainant approached the police station after obtaining medical treatment for her injuries, following which a case was registered under Sections 331(6), 79, 115(2), 118(1) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The SP said nine accused persons involved in the incident were identified, arrested and produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody. He added that all legal procedures required in the case had been initiated. As part of departmental action, Nagarampalem Circle Inspector (CI) Satyanarayana has been placed under suspension.
