MBEYA: THE Director General of the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR), Prof. Said Aboud, has said traditional medicine is an important area for improving community health, promoting economic growth and advancing sustainable development in Tanzania.
Prof Aboud made the remarks today, August 28, 2026, in Mbeya while speaking at the Fifth Scientific Conference on Traditional Medicine, organised by NIMR and bringing together experts, researchers and other stakeholders to discuss developments, innovation and the safe use of traditional medicine in the country.
He said the scientific conference has continued to serve as an important platform for generating, sharing and advancing knowledge, as well as strengthening collaboration among stakeholders in the field of traditional medicine.
“This Scientific Conference on Traditional Medicine has continued to serve as an important platform each year for generating, sharing and advancing knowledge, as well as strengthening collaboration in the field of traditional medicine,” Prof. Aboud said.
