NGOs urged to back Vision 2050

MWANZA: MWANZA Regional Commissioner, CP Salum Hamduni has urged Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to adopt innovative project designs, diversify their sources of revenue and ensure that all their activities comply with the country’s laws, regulations and established procedures.

CP Hamduni made the remarks while addressing participants at the Mwanza Regional NGO Forum. He acknowledged the important contribution civil society organisations make toward improving the welfare of citizens and supporting development initiatives across the region.

“The government recognises the role NGOs play in complementing public efforts in areas such as community development, social services and capacity building, as well as other initiatives aimed at improving people’s livelihoods,” he said.

He added: “The Mwanza Regional Commissioner’s Office acknowledges the efforts of NGOs in bringing development to the people. Organisations need to be innovative in project design and expand their revenue sources.”
