The NFL is hosting an international regular-season game between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia. The game will be broadcast exclusively on Netflix as part of a broader international expansion strategy for the league.
Why it matters
The move reflects the NFL's aggressive push to grow its global fan base and experiment with non-traditional streaming distribution models.
The first international game of the 2026-27 NFL season will take place in Melbourne, Australia, between divisional rivals the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams . The two teams will face off on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and the game will be one of five regular-season matchups to stream on Netflix this season.
