In what the police suspect to be a case of suicide, a young newly-wed couple was found dead in Sasthamcotta Lake near the Ambalakkadavu area here on Sunday (September 6, 2026). The deceased have been identified as Rajeev, 26, and Abhirami, 19.
Abhirami’s body was recovered first from the lake on Sunday morning. Shortly after, the Sasthamcotta Fire and Rescue team located Rajeev’s body approximately 50 metres away during their search operations. Investigators suspect that both individuals jumped into the lake during the early hours of Sunday.
