Newlands homicide investigation launched after woman found dead in Gahagan Way property

Police have launched a homicide investigation after a woman’s body was discovered in a northern Wellington suburb this morning.

Inspector Haley Ryan said emergency services were called to Gahagan Way in Newlands about 4am.

On arrival, the woman was found dead inside a property.

Ryan said police were speaking to a man, who was assisting with their inquiries, and a scene guard was currently in place.

Residents are advised to expect an increased police presence in the area as inquiries continue.
