Newcastle United held off a spirited late comeback from Hull to secure a narrow Premier League victory at St James' Park. Early goals from Joe Willock and Lewis Hall provided the perfect response to their heavy defeat against Leeds, as the injury-hit hosts managed to inflict the first top-flight defeat of the season on Sergej Jakirovic's newly promoted side.

Newcastle wasted no time asserting their dominance following a severe 4-1 loss to Leeds last Monday. Willock opened the scoring just three minutes into the match, firing past Konstantinos Tzolakis.
