The Philippine weather agency PAGASA is monitoring a new low-pressure area (LPA 07d) east of Luzon that has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. If it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it will be named 'Kiyapo' and could bring significant rainfall to the region.

PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said the LPA, designated as LPA 07d, has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, and its chances of development are expected to increase beyond the next 24 hours.
