The Grootfontein municipality’s newly appointed chief executive, Johannes Iipinge, says he wants to improve the town’s financial stability, attract investment and ensure better services for residents
This is according to a statement issued by the council on Monday.
Iipinge, who officially assumed office on Monday, has outlined a five-pillar vision aimed at improving municipal governance, infrastructure development and economic growth.
His plan, according to the statement, includes diversifying revenue through public-private partnerships, commercial property development, investment promotion, land servicing, tourism and renewable energy projects.
“His vision is to build a financially sustainable, economically vibrant, well-governed and service-orientated municipality that delivers measurable value to its residents, businesses and investors,” the statement reads.
This will be achieved through five strategic pillars, it says.
It says the council has identified water security, sewerage and sanitation, roads, stormwater drainage, electrification and waste management as infrastructure priorities requiring attention.
