From today, riders aged 16 and over must hold at least a valid learner licence to ride an e-bike, e-scooter or other covered e-mobility device in public without supervision in Queensland.
The change is the latest stage of Queensland's tougher e-mobility laws , which took effect on July 1 and gave police new powers to seize non-compliant devices, conduct random breath tests, and impose increased penalties.
There are exemptions to the licensing requirements, including for people who cannot hold a licence because of a medical condition or disability.
