New cultural venue to open in Rīga's Old Town
A new cultural venue named ĪRGA is set to open in Rīga's Old Town, focusing on Livonian heritage, traditional crafts, and modern technology. The center aims to serve as a space for community participation and the preservation of Latvian cultural foundations.

ĪRGA is a new cultural venue where traditional culture, crafts, Livonian heritage, modern technology and contemporary cultural experiences will come together, says the Rīga City Council. ‘ĪRGA’ means ‘beginning’ in the Livonian language, so the centre’s opening is intended not only as the inauguration of new premises, but also as a symbolic return to Rīga’s foundations – the skills of craftspeople, seasonal traditions, songs, dances and community spirit, according to the founders.
