New crossing station planned at Kovilpalayam on Pollachi–Kinathukadavu section

Southern Railway has sanctioned a new crossing station at Kovilpalayam on the Pollachi–Kinathukadavu section. The project, costing ₹35.32 crore, aims to improve operational flexibility and traffic flow on the route.

The Southern Railway has sanctioned a new crossing station at Kovilpalayam between Pollachi and Kinathukadavu stations in the Palakkad division at an estimated cost of ₹35.32 crore.
The work has been sanctioned under the 2024–25 Umbrella Work for Traffic Facilities (PH:16) and entrusted to the Construction wing. The project is intended to provide crossing facilities on the Pollachi–Kinathukadavu section and improve operational flexibility on the route.
The sanction was issued by the Southern Railway headquarters in Chennai. The project has been included in the sanctioned works for 2026–27.
