New biosensor reveals rare lipid gathers in membrane hotspots during cell stress
Researchers at the University of Osaka have developed a high-throughput method called the CLiB assay to track rare lipid molecules in living cells. This tool allowed them to identify a specific signaling lipid that accumulates in membrane hotspots during cellular stress.
Why it matters
Improved understanding of lipid behavior in cells could lead to significant breakthroughs in treating diseases related to cellular communication and stress response.
