An affidavit written by DeLand police and made public on Friday in the arrest of 41-year-old Daytron W. Etkins — identified as the father of 17-year-old Keyan Jayden Rundell, who's accused of fatally shooting two young men last month in DeLand — reveals a possible motive in the killings. Rundell was arrested Wednesday in Manatee County. He faces two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Dustin Rose, 19, and Samson Campbell, 18, who were found dead with multiple gunshot wounds behind the Athens Theatre in DeLand. Rundell was extradited to Volusia County, where he appeared before a judge Saturday morning. During his first appearance, the court ordered that he remain detained in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice for 21 days or until further order of the court. All other matters are expected to be addressed in future proceedings.
