Nepra okays Rs2.06 per unit hike in power bills

ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers will pay an additional Rs2.058 per unit in their September bills after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority approved a fuel price adjustment for July 2026, allowing distribution companies, including K-Electric, to recover billions of rupees from consumers.
The adjustment was lower than the Rs2.52 per unit sought by power distribution companies after Nepra held a public hearing on their petitions.
The additional charge will apply to consumers of K-Electric and ex-Wapda distribution companies, except lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs.
