Nepal flash floods: Two more people rescued alive after being trapped for 10 days

Rescue teams in Nepal have recovered two more survivors from hydropower tunnels ten days after devastating flash floods struck the region. The official death toll has climbed to 1,344, with thousands still reported missing as search operations continue.

A Chinese national was rescued on Saturday (September 5, 2026) from a hydropower tunnel in Nepal’s flood-hit Rasuwa district, 10 days after the project was hit by devastating floods.
The man, identified as Luhaitao, was trapped inside Audit Tunnel 4 of the flood-affected Upper Trishuli 1 Hydropower Project.
Meanwhile, the rescuers pulled a woman alive from a house in Nuwakot town, said the Nepal Army spokesperson on Saturday (September 5, 2026).
“A joint rescue team comprising the Nepali Army and foreign rescuers has rescued a Chinese national, Luhaitao, alive from inside a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project,” the Nepali Army said following the rescue on Saturday (September 5, 2026.
Earlier, two hydropower workers were rescued alive from Nepal’s Trishuli 3A tunnel.
