As many as 21 persons from Tamil Nadu, who travelled for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, have been rescued in Nepal where flash floods wreaked havoc in three districts, announced the Union Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday (August 27, 2026) afternoon. In a social media post, Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the MEA shared the name list of the 21 rescued Indian nationals who hail from Tamil Nadu.

Earlier in the morning, Tamil Nadu School Education and Information Minister Rajmohan said the State government was taking steps to rescue 103 Tamils, including Justice Sivagnanam, former judge of the Madras High Court, who had gone to Nepal.
