Nellore railway police recover 50 lost phones worth ₹10 lakh and return them to passengers

Nellore Railway Sub-Division police have recovered 50 mobile phones worth ₹10 lakh in a special drive. Of these, 10 were recovered by the Nellore Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), six by Gudur GRPS, nine by Kavali GRPS, 15 by Ongole GRPS and 10 by Chirala GRPS.
In a statement released here on Thursday (October 8, 2026), Nellore Railway DSP G. Muralidhar said, “With the objective of ensuring railway security and the safety of passengers, and as per the directions of Railway I.G. Rajakumari, two special teams were constituted in the sub-division to trace and recover lost/stolen mobile phones belonging to railway passengers.”
The special teams, led by Nellore Railway Circle Inspector A. Sudhakar and Ongole Railway Circle Inspector Sk. Moula Shariff, recovered the phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal , IMEI number tracking and other investigation techniques, he said.
