Neeraj Chopra finishes 2nd in Lausanne Diamond League javelin event

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage edged out Neeraj Chopra by just nine centimetres in Lausanne, securing his third victory over the Indian star this season and tightening his grip on one of the sport's most compelling emerging rivalries.For a brief moment on Friday night, it looked as though Chopra had finally found a way past the man who had beaten him in Doha and again at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The Indian moved into the lead with a huge second-round throw and produced his trademark roar in celebration.But Pathirage had another answer.The Sri Lankan responded with an 88.14m effort in the third round and held on through the remainder of the competition to claim victory at the Lausanne Diamond League.
