NDRF, SDRF rescue Srikakulam officials on boat drifted away in Nagavalli river

A mishap was averted on Friday when a boat carrying Srikakulam Collector Swapnil Dinakar, Amadalavalasa MLA Kuna Ravi Kumar and Superintendent of Police, Maheswara Reddy reportedly drifted away some distance due to strong currents in the Nagavalli River, which is in spate, while they were returning after inspecting flood rehabilitation arrangements in a village in Burja mandal in Srikakulam district.

The officials had travelled by boat to visit a flood-affected village and assess the arrangements being made for the rehabilitation and relief of affected residents. While returning, the boat was caught in a strong water current and was swept away for a few seconds, raising concern among the officials accompanying them.
