NDA partners will coordinate on seat-sharing for local body elections, says Purandeswari

NDA partners in Andhra Pradesh are coordinating seat-sharing for upcoming local body elections without a fixed formula. MP D. Purandeswari emphasized that the primary goal is to strengthen the BJP's presence in the state.
Why it matters
This reflects the ongoing political maneuvering and coalition dynamics within the NDA in regional Indian politics.
There is no particular formula being adopted by the NDA partners for sharing seats in the local body elections, according to Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari.
Addressing the media in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday (September 7, 2026), Ms. Purandeswari said talks were in progress with the BJP cadres at the ground level. “Instead of adopting a formula, there will be coordination among the NDA partners on seat-sharing for the local body elections. However, our agenda is to strengthen the BJP in the State,” she said.
