Why it matters
State-level legislative elections are crucial for maintaining political stability and coalition cohesion in regional governance.
Ahead of October 23 State Legislative Council elections for eight seats in which ruling BJP and JD(U) are contesting on four seats each, the NDA coalition partners on Friday (October 9, 2026) held a meeting of party MLAs, MPs and leaders at Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s official residence 1, Anne Marg to chalk out strategies for the poll.
The NDA leaders including the party MLA from Mokama Anant Singh, met and are said to have formulated a unified strategy to bag all the eight seats going to poll October 23 and for which the results will be announced on October 27. Besides, BJP and JD(U), the ruling NDA has three other coalition partners in Bihar — Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha of Upendra Kushwaha.
