NCR air quality panel tightens winter pollution curbs
The Commission for Air Quality Management has tightened winter pollution restrictions in the Delhi-NCR region under a revised Graded Response Action Plan. New measures include stricter vehicle emission standards for trucks and expanded bans on older vehicles in high-density districts.

The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) on Tuesday announced tighter restrictions under a revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to mitigate air pollution in Delhi and nearby districts during winter.
An exemption allowing trucks that are not BS-VI compliant and carry essential commodities to enter Delhi during extreme pollution has been withdrawn.
GRAP is a set of short-term emergency measures taken to reduce air pollution and is divided into four stages depending on the level of air pollution that exists at a particular time or is predicted for the near future.
The commission has also added Sonipat to the existing list of high-vehicle-density districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar, where BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel cars will not be allowed to ply during Stage 3 of GRAP.
