MPs of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) on Friday (August 7, 2026) met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a breakfast event at his residence in Delhi, while in Kolkata, MLAs of the rebel Trinamool Congress group met Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
In June, 20 rebel Trinamool Lok Sabha members merged with the NCP. The meeting with the Prime Minister was one of a series of meetings that the MPs had had with senior BJP leaders over the past few days. The MPs had earlier announced their support for the National Democratic Alliance government.
Most of the MPs who participated in Friday’s (August 7, 2026) meeting with the Prime Minister said that they were happy with the meeting. Kakoli Ghosh, who was part of the delegation, said she was “overwhelmed” by the Prime Minister’s “knowledge and wisdom” and the warmth with which he received them.
