'Nauseating': Australia won't adjust suppliers as Trump thanks Putin for oil

Australian Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen stated that Australia will not change its policy of avoiding Russian fuel, despite a new deal between the US and Russia. President Trump recently thanked Vladimir Putin for an oil deal intended to lower US fuel prices.
Why it matters
This highlights a geopolitical rift between US energy policy and international sanctions regimes against Russia, impacting global energy markets.
Bowen was speaking on Saturday after United States President Donald Trump thanked Russian leader Vladimir Putin for the "very successful" deal, which he said would lower fuel prices in the United States ahead of the November midterm elections. The deal is expected to provide billions of dollars to Russia, which analysts say will likely go directly to funding the Russian war effort that has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced and wounded many more. "We don't need or want Russian fuel in Australia," Bowen told ABC News. "We do not want Vladimir Putin to benefit from this war in the Middle East. What the United States does is a matter for them. But we won't be changing our approach."
