National SARAS Mela to be held in Vijayawada from October 13
Vijayawada is preparing to host the National SARAS Mela from October 13 to 31, alongside local Dasara celebrations. The event aims to provide a marketing platform for women's self-help groups and artisans from across India.

Elaborate arrangements are being made as the Dasara celebrations at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam, Vijayawada Utsav and the National Saras Aajeevika Mela would be organised simultaneously in the city, NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha has said.
The Collector, along with Society For Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) CEO Vakati Karuna, National Rural Livelihoods Mission(NRLM) Director Molishree and Joint Collector S. Ilakkiya, reviewed the arrangements being made at Punnami Ghat, the veue for the mela, on Thursday, October 8.
Addressing the media later, Mr. Lakshmisha said up to 600 stalls would be set up, showcasing a wide range of handicrafts, handloom products and other articles made by women of self-help groups from across the country during the mela, to be held from October 13 to 31.
