National Maritime Week spotlights sector’s role in economy, communities

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) kicked off the 27th National Maritime Week on September 20, running through September 27 under the theme “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence,” with a weeklong lineup of events highlighting the maritime sector’s role in the economy and coastal communities.

This year’s theme gives importance to “translating our shared commitments for the maritime sector into concrete actions and meaningful outcomes,” according to MARINA Management, Financial and Administrative Service director Marivic Ramos during a press briefing on September 21.

PCG Civil Relations Service commandant Roben de Guzman said they remain committed to building a safer, cleaner, more secure, resilient, and sustainable Philippine maritime industry.
