National Hurricane Center tags Invest 92-L in Gulf

The National Hurricane Center has designated a low-pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico as Invest 92-L for further monitoring. While the system currently has a high chance of development, meteorologists expect it to remain weak and stay west of Central Florida.
Why it matters
Early tracking of tropical disturbances is critical for public safety and disaster preparedness in coastal regions.
The National Hurricane Center designated a low-pressure area in the southwestern Gulf as Invest 92-L on Monday. Invest is short for “investigation” and refers to a weather feature that the National Hurricane Center is investigating. This means we can start getting more spaghetti computer models about this disturbance. WESH 2 First Warning Weather Meteorologist Cam Tran said the area of interest could become a tropical depression by the end of the week. https://x.com/CamTranTV/status/2107156802278244774?ref_src=twsrc^tfw The system has 30 mph winds and a minimum central pressure of 1010 mb. The latest model tracks show a slight easterly shift. However, there is still a big spread in where this could possibly go if it develops. For now, the system is still expected to remain weak and well west of Central Florida.
