National governance tool takes shape

DODOMA: A NATIONAL framework that will measure transparency, accountability and performance across public and private institutions is nearing completion after the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance (CHRAGG) advanced work on the assessment tool in Dodoma yesterday.

The framework, which has been under development since 2023, is expected to become the country's first standard guide for assessing how institutions uphold good governance principles and identify areas requiring improvement.

Speaking during a working session to review the draft guide at the Dodoma Regional Commissioner's Office, CHRAGG Acting Executive Secretary Ms Suzan Ndeona said the tool would help institutions evaluate their performance against key governance standards.

She said the assessment will cover transparency, accountability, equality, the rule of law, public participation, efficiency and productivity, reconciliation, responsiveness and integrity.
