Nathan Cleary has defended Phoenix Crossland against online abuse, saying the tackle that broke his leg was a "complete accident".
The Penrith star also said he had "nothing but respect" for Crossland, who had reached out to apologise.
Crossland has been referred straight to the judiciary over the tackle, with a hearing set for tonight at 6pm AEST.
