Nandi-Ndaitwah urges WorldSkills competitors to represent Namibia with pride

PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has urged Namibia’s 17 WorldSkills competitors to represent the country with confidence, integrity and pride, saying their participation demonstrates the importance of technical and vocational skills in driving economic transformation and creating opportunities for young Namibians.

Nandi-Ndaitwah made the remarks on Monday during the official send-off of Team Namibia ahead of the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China, from 22 to 27 September.

The President described the competitors as a representation of modern Namibia and said Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) was central to the country’s development ambitions.

She said Namibia’s advancement in emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, oil and gas, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and digital technology would depend heavily on a skilled, innovative and adaptable workforce.
