Nandi-Ndaitwah backer gets Oshakati guest house job

A Businessman who campaigned for president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah at a funeral three years ago has been awarded the contract for the first phase of the presidential guest house at Oshakati.

The Presidency has confirmed that Emirates Trading CC, led by northern businessman Josua ‘Emirates’ Haimbodi, will undertake the first phase.

Haimbodi has donated at least N$1 million to Swapo over the past decade, pledging N$500 000 ahead of the 2024 general election and donating the same amount in 2014.

In 2023, he told mourners at a funeral to vote for the party and Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Now, he is involved in the presidential guest house construction project.

Details of the cost of the Oshakati presidential guesthouse renovations are not yet known, amid long standing concerns that secret construction tenders are often used as a cash cow by some officials who often inflate contracts.
