Namma Chennai app opens volunteer registration ahead of Northeast monsoon
The Greater Chennai Corporation has launched volunteer registration via the Namma Chennai app to prepare for the upcoming Northeast monsoon. The initiative allows individuals and organizations to assist with disaster relief and emergency operations.

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has started registration of volunteers through the upgraded Namma Chennai mobile application ahead of the Northeast monsoon, following instructions from Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
The initiative was aimed at enabling members of the public, NGOs, resident associations, and other organisations to work with the government and the GCC during emergencies and disaster-relief operations. Chennai Corporation Commissioner G.S. Sameeran said the system would help coordinate volunteers’ services and deploy them according to their preferred areas of participation.
Volunteers can register through the Namma Chennai application or the Corporation website. New users have to create an account using their name, mobile number, e-mail address, address and PIN code and log in using an OTP.
