Namibia records nearly 5,000 GBV cases, Khomas Region tops the list
Namibian authorities confirmed that 4,965 gender-based violence cases were recorded in the 2025/2026 financial year, correcting previous inflated figures. The Khomas region reported the highest number of incidents.

A TOTAL of 4,965 gender-based violence (GBV) cases were recorded during the 2025/2026 financial year, with the Khomas, Ohangwena and Omusati regions recording the highest numbers of reported cases.
This was recently confirmed by the Acting Inspector General of the Namibian Police (NamPol), Major General Anne-Marie Nainda, who clarified that previous reports indicating that more than 18,500 GBV cases had been recorded during the 2025/2026 financial year were incorrect.
