NAMIBIA held their nerve with the ball to beat South Africa by 18 runs in the opening match of the T20I cricket Tri-Series at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, defending a total of 163/9 after the visitors finished on 145/9.
South Africa, chasing 164 for victory, made a shaky start as Namibia struck twice inside the opening four overs. Jordan Hermann was caught by Ruben Trumpelmann off Jack Brassell for seven, before Lhuan-dre Pretorius fell for nine to Ruben Trumpelmann.
Tony de Zorzi briefly steadied the innings but was bowled by Max Heingo for nine, leaving South Africa on 39/3 after seven overs.
Dewald Brevis then led the South African fightback, reaching his half-century from 39 balls and helping the visitors pass 100 runs in the 15th over.
