This underscores the importance of digital transparency and accountability in local government administration.
Following a report by The Hindu on the names, photos, addresses, and mobile numbers of Salem Corporation councillors that were removed from the Corporation's official website, the information has been restored on Thursday (September 10, 2026).
Two month ago, the names of the councillors of the district, along with their photographs, addresses and mobile numbers were removed from the Salem Corporation’s official website, www.salemcorporation.gov.in. People who searched for councillors’ phone numbers were unable to find them on the website, but instead, it displayed names and contacts of officials who were transferred to other districts.
