Naivasha Road Opening to December

The Kenyan government has delayed the completion of the Rironi-Naivasha highway section to early December 2026. Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir cited ongoing construction progress and adequate material supplies as reasons for the revised timeline.
Why it matters
Infrastructure delays impact regional economic connectivity and reflect the challenges of managing large-scale public works projects in Kenya.

Chirchir announced on Friday, October 30, when he hosted the National Assembly's Transport Committee to inspect the ongoing road construction works in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
The CS assured the MPs that the contractor was working within the revised timelines, with the government targeting an early December opening of the 60-kilometre Rironi-Naivasha section.
